We have over 20 years experience of dealing with bookkeeping for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies; Both from inside the company and remotely. With the emergence of software, cloud accounting and ‘Making Tax Digital’ the need to get the bookkeeping right and on time has become increasingly important.
We became certified as Advanced Quickbooks Advisors and Xero Certified Advisors to give backing to the knowledge we already had and to inspire confidence with our customer base and future clients.
‘Making Tax Digital’ for VAT (MTD) was a major change from paper to computerised accounting. We helped many clients take that unfamiliar step forward with confidence.
With the forthcoming changes to ‘Making Tax Digital’ for Self Assessment (MTD for ITSA), we are preparing to help clients with the changes to the way they work and the additional work that is involved in remaining fully compliant. Hello. I’m Paul...
About 20 years ago I was doing the bookkeeping and accounts for my recruitment business when my accountant said ‘You don’t really need me do you?’
I guess it was one of those light bulb moments… The next day my sister, who is also an accountant, said ‘You know as much about this as I do!’
From that moment on I took on roles forming links between trouble shooters and large companies in need of help. I learned that a solid solution can solve a problem permanently.
I became a shareholder in an accountancy practice and quickly realised there was a huge gap between the bookkeeping knowledge clients had and what was needed by the accountant. It was obvious to me another solid solution was required.
In 2016 I founded Holmes Bookkeeping. The goal was to fill the same gap for clients that simply want to get on with running their business. Besides, who wants the stress of bookkeeping?
So what’s with the Kayak?
Well, we all need down-time and in my case a break from the books! In my spare time I’m a Kayaking, and Open Water Swimming Coach. I have also competed in many swimming events and often help out as a member of the safety crew.
